The Sundblads

Stuff Etc® Quality Consignment Stores are currently Iowa’s largest department consignment store group. It certainly didn’t start that way, nor was in ever conceived that it would grow so dramatically.

We started out in 1985 with the name of Kids Stuff and Kountry Kreations. We started in Iowa City on Highland Ct in a 750 sf building in a light industrial area. We shared our building with a bar and a sheet metal shop. We dealt with children’s merchandise and country crafts. In spite of the lousy location for retail, our business started to grow. After a year located on Highland Ct we decided to build a new building on Keokuk St. This increased our space to 3000 square foot. After 6 years we outgrew this location and moved into a new location on Pepperwood Ln that had 10,000 square feet.

At this time we also decided to change our name to Stuff Etc. Our customers and consignors were asking for more than children’s merchandise, so we decided to branch out and make our store a department store. Country was on the way out, so we dropped that completely.

In 2000 we decided to try adding a second location. With some apprehension we rented an 8,000 square foot space in Coralville. We needn’t have worried. The only problem this space had was that it was way too small!

In 2003 we decided to try out the Cedar Rapids market. We rented a 21,000 space on the west side of Cedar Rapids.

Back in Coralville, after renting for 4 years, we built a new building on Commerce Drive that has 36,000 square feet on 2 levels.

In July of 2005 we moved our Iowa City Store into a 24,000 square foot space in a strip mall at Pepperwood Plaza. Those of you who shopped in the “basement” of our 845 Pepperwood location know what a pleasure it is to have all the merchandise on one level.

In December of 2005 we opened a second Cedar Rapid's store on the east side.
